Basements

You might be surprised to know that you can excavate a basement extension under almost any conventional house built in the last hundred years or so - and it could be the best solution.

Basements and cellars are less conspicuous than loft extensions but they could be a better solution for some people. Assuming you are amongst the majority of home owners whose premises are suitable, the first thing to think about is the use you will put the room to.

We can't pretend that a basement is likely to be as light and sunny as an extension, but it is likely to be rectangular in all directions and, since it could be almost as large as the plan of your home, could easily turn out to be the largest room in the house.

As a potentially massive playroom the entrance is likely to be near your kitchen and offers a safe environment for your children or maybe an office which might be much more convenient than climbing the stairs to your loft.

With the assurance of our registration with Fairtrades and The Guild of Master Craftsmen we can offer everything you need from design to the completion of your job. Or if you already have an architect that's absolutely fine as well.

You might already have a - possibly damp - cellar that needs refurbishing, waterproofing and brining back into service or maybe there's a garden flat with a neglected light well that needs putting to rights. Indeed, depending on the planning regulations, we might be able to put a grille that extend under the pavement to provide a surprising amount of daylight.
