How to Heat Your Loft Conversion

16th July, 2015, Posted by Central London Lofts

Of course, it is a well known fact that a new loft conversion will be well insulated. There will be enough light and warmth, but what about at night? It will be bitter cold at night. By installing a proper heating option, this can be easily taken care of.

Heating Options for Loft Conversions

There are three main forms of heating available:

  1. Using your existing boiler system:

This option should be your first consideration if your home already has a boiler system. You can easily add additional radiators to the system to make it functional. Once this is done, you have to extend the hot water heating pipes to the loft. For this, you may need the expert advice of a plumber.

  1. Underfloor heating:

This is one of the most popular heating options available in the UK. The constant rise in the use has brought down the price so that it is easily available to everyone. The main benefit of this system is you need not modify your existing heating system. There are readily available kits that you can just install.

  1. Plug in oil filled radiators:

This is one system that may come in handy. If you don’t want to go for underfloor heating or boiler system, then the portable oil filled radiators will be the best option. The main benefit is,you can easily avoid the labour charges and material cost.

The portable radiators are always small and hence the output will also be meagre. This will be good for medium to small rooms. Also, they are not suitable for kid’s rooms. You should also make sure that it is not too close near something that catches fire.
