As soon as we walked into this property it felt like a proper family home.

School bags and shoes by the door, a coat rack fully stacked above. We could smell our mother's cooking from the kitchen and heard the stampede of children's feet on the floorboards.

It was no surprise then when our clients wanted to create both a kitchen extension, reaching out into their family garden, but also a loft conversion too.

THE CLIENT

With limited space to prepare their meals, the clients wanted to create a sense of airiness without losing that feeling of homeliness. They wanted modern, but with a traditional country feel.

Words like these are songs to the ears of our designers. It means they can really get stuck into the project.

THE JOB

By firstly knocking down the back wall, we brought the kitchen out into the garden, wary of infringing too much on their beautiful verdant space out back. Instead, the main of our extension was to spill out sideways onto the patio area.

This meant that we could install some amazing skylights, getting as much natural light into the room as possible. The french doors opening up onto the yard needed to be both secure and inviting; keeping the draughts out in winter and letting a breeze through in summer.

THE RESULTS

Moving onto the decor, we wanted to create a somewhat minimal aesthetic, whilst creating a feeling of the traditional country kitchen. An oxymoron – we know.

In order to do this we used soft tones of yellow and the brown of wood, making certain we didn’t oversaturate the room. By keeping the scheme tempered down, we introduced decorative elements through the bookcase and the teal lights hanging down from the ceiling.

‘Hidden’ fridge and oven units meant that we could get all the essentials in without infringing upon the limited space available.

“We couldn’t be happier with the work that Ali and his team have done for us. We had our loft converted to a master bedroom with en-suite and the finish is so good that we’ve had to redecorate the rest of the house as it looked tired in comparison…”

Excellent Job and Good Service

Which? Trusted Traders Consumer

“Building is often fraught with difficulty but we had a very positive and good experience with Central London Lofts. Ali and his team were professional from the outset to the finish. When we needed time to work ideas out, Ali would give us time and advice, some times we took it, some times we forged our own path and then Ali would be supportive…”
