We're big fans of places with funny names.

Whether it's Piddle River in Devon or Wet Rain in Essex, we all like to have a little giggle every now and then. So once we'd all dried our eyes and got back to business, this Freezywater loft conversion got our full (serious) attention!

This was your typical rear-of-the-property, semi-detached dormer loft conversion. Knocking through the back of the existing loft, we created a shell that ran the width of the house, ensuring that we kept the height and space within the realms of planning permission. With a newly tiled roof, we ensured that the exterior finish of this conversion matched for continuity.

THE CLIENT

During the planning stages, our clients had been quite vocal about the desire to have a bathroom that didn’t feel too cramped, but didn’t take up too much of the actual bedroom area either. Of course, this meant a shower instead of a bath, but we were keen to allow for some extras. Just outside of the shower is a drying area where you can hang your towels and dressing gowns. The floor space of the bathroom, too, was increased a little to give it a better feeling of airiness.

THE JOB

With the bedroom itself we installed two sky lights over the bed to allow as much natural light in as possible. Without French doors or a balcony, double glazing was installed at the rear. This is also home to a simple little dressing table in keeping with the room’s understated decor. A ceiling-high radiator is installed almost as a work of modern art.

THE RESULTS

A massive, room-wide storage unit complete with shiny, sliding doors plays host to all of the owner’s clothes and other accoutrements. The perfect solution for those who have more shoes than they could count.

First Class Craftsmanship

Tim Simmons

“We couldn’t be happier with the work that Ali and his team have done for us. We had our loft converted to a master bedroom with en-suite and the finish is so good that we’ve had to redecorate the rest of the house as it looked tired in comparison…”

Excellent Job and Good Service

Which? Trusted Traders Consumer

“Building is often fraught with difficulty but we had a very positive and good experience with Central London Lofts. Ali and his team were professional from the outset to the finish. When we needed time to work ideas out, Ali would give us time and advice, some times we took it, some times we forged our own path and then Ali would be supportive…”
